Kota Bharu in brief


KOTA BHARU (KB) is the state capital of Kelantan with the population more than 400,000. KB is the biggest city in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. About 95 per cent of the population are Malays. The rest are Chinese, Indian, and others.

Kota Bharu cily is one of Malaysia's top tourist destinations and among top tourist destinations in the city are Siti Khadijah Central Market, Buluh Kubu Bazaar, Handicraft Village, Kelantan Museum, the Second World War Memorial, the Sultan Ismail Petra Fort, Kelantan Cultural Park and many more. Among the top shopping malls in Kota Bharu city centre are KB Mall (in Jalan Hamzah), Kota Bharu Trade Centre (KBTC), Kota Sri Mutiara Complex, Tengku Anis Bazaar, and so on.

While, Kota Bharu's Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (LTSIP) is located about 8 kilometer away from the city centre. There are direct flights from LTSIP to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (by Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Air Asia) and Kuala Lumpur's Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport (by Fly Firefly) in Subang, Selangor. There are also express train services from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore daily to Kota Bharu (via Wakaf Bharu Railway Station) by Malayan Railway Limited (KTMB).
